Blue Fern Studios - May challenge

Blue Fern Studios has a new sketch for May...

This one!!

It is, of course, very beautiful...and this is what I created especially for the challenge!!

My lovely neice, Christine sent me a bunch of photos, and this is one of them! She is pregnant (Sienna has now been born!) so I used the Blue Fern Studios 'Jasmine Collage' designed by Michele Singh to spotlight her belly! The chipboard has been finger dabbed with Viva 3d stamp paint in 'Rosa Metallic' and then a random spot of Finnabair 'Platinum Crackle' - looks really pretty! The Title 'Happy' designed by Janene Meyerowitz was covered in the Platinum Crackle - so you see the raw chipboard in the crackles when it's dry! I love using the backing card from the chipboard behind my photo...it's too lovely to toss in the bin!!
Finnabair's ' Heavy Gesso' was swiped over Jamie Doughtery's Bloom stencil 'Criss Cross' - almost across the middle of the page. Some strips of gold embossed paper were adhered vertical and horizontal, along with some white ribbon twine, with a knot in the end!
The drips were created with a combination of Prima Colour Bloom in ' Cotton candy', 'Peony' & Distress stain 'Seedless Preserve' & Dylusions 'Funky Fuchsia', Crushed Grape' and a little Heidi Swapp 'Pink' colour shine!! Concentrated spray and tilt to drip....and a take the lid of to sprinkle (my favourite mess to make!)
Embellishing was easy - couple of Prima flowers (always beautiful!) Couture Creations 'bling flower', some pearl strands and a lace leaf from Tj's Scrapping with Style and the cute little felt hearts in two shades of pink from My2angels.

Lucky to have squeezed some spare time this month - with creating projects for Kaisercraft to display at Retailers Day and CHA....and getting my finalist entry in too! Also been to the two Roundtable days for Art Deco Creations - super fun!!

Kaisercraft Design Team Finalist Entry 2015-2016

I heart KAISERCRAFT

...so you can imagine my GRIN when I received an email saying I'd made it to the second round and to expect a package to create with - new collections not yet released...even to the current DT - Hooray!!
The postman did not break any land speed records delivering to my letterbox!!
AND then 'it' arrived - woohoo

The first papers I saw were from "Time Machine"
A range with lovely shades of teal, brown and a bit of a steampunk edge!

I cut a couple of large circles into 2 pieces of paper and off centred them then cut banners from any patterns with teal - using P1922 'Coggler', P1919 'Mechanism', P1918 'Steam Engine', P1920 'Scriptorian', P1924 'Gadget' -  I spritzed the Wooden Cogs (FL399) with Kaisermist 'Turquoise' (KM105) then sprinkled a little Kaisermist 'Charcoal' (KM101) and when it had dried, randomly wiped a little glossy accents.
I like the way that using lace as a 'flower' by threading a wire cut from mini paper blooms and twisting into a circle - always looks delicate and adds a bit of 'pretty'. I used EM928 'Natural'.
Along with some strips of 'Timeless ribbon in brown' (EM998) An 'Ice Green' pearl brad for the cog centres (EM934), added some 'Pewter' pearls (SB791) ..and finished with a couple of 'Olive' Mini paper blooms (F650)

TIME 'staring'  our youngest daughter, Katelyn

I had this circle as 'scrap' but couldn't just put it in the scrap box!
So I trimmed a bunch of 1" strips, which I sprayed with a little water, scrunched and dried - then adhered around the edge. The black patterns were quite elegant so I adhered some strips, overlapping in the corner.
P1924 'Gadget', P1923 'Hourglass', P1919 'Mechanism', P1922 'Coggler', P1917 'Clocks'.
It's always fun to pull the centre bud out of the Kaisercraft blooms (F666 'Black') and replace with a Pearl Brad (EM934 'Ice Green') - clustered the blooms with some die cut 'Foliage' (DD506) and squeezed in a few Mini Paper Blooms (F661 'Black') and then sprinkled some Black pearls (SB793) to finish!

Perfect Moment - our friends were married in Bali a few years ago and I'm down to the last few photos for the album!!

Always like to create some cards (with the leftover scraps!) I had a little of the scrunched strips left, so adhered them to a piece of cardstock - then Die cut a Heart (DD528) running the 2 together to make a border - this also left a full heart which I used on the envelope to tuck the flap under! The envelope is, of course, lined with paper too! I also assembled the paper bow from a long strip!
I like to use both square (CD503 Black) and C6 (CD511 White) card sizes

The second range of papers 'Home for Christmas' is perfect for me - I love Christmas!
I didn't just want to create a 'Christmas' layout - Kaisercraft collections are always so versatile!!
I began by smearing Gel medium over the Stars (T616) - dry - Then spritzed with Kaisermist 'Antique Gold' (KM102) - dry - sprayed 'Yellow' (KM103) over the top. Sponged white ink through the Stars template also!
Tore a couple of  'hills', fussy cut a forest of trees and assembled- and a sky full of stars and randomly placed Epoxy Stickers in Sea Breeze, Sunshine and Natural (ST908, ST910 &ST909) - mounted the photo of me  (CD605 Dark Brown) - adhered the title DREAM (ST916 Delicate Words)

DREAM, Dream, dream..

I did need to create a CHRISTMAS layout too!
The photos are of  ME on my first Christmas!

Believe in the miracle of Christmas (I still do!!)

When I saw the paper with the Banner I picked up scissors and started cutting - then cut a few more twigs of holly!! I again used the Nesting Hearts (DD528) behind the photos - and cut a smaller heart from the top of one to mount on foam! Tore a strip of 'Forest' (CD114) for the 'Fancy Deer (FL463) to stand on - he was sprayed in 'Charcoal' (KM101)

And, of course, some CARDS - Simple often works best for Christmas...especially if you need to make heaps!! The poinsettia has 3 layers, each with a little shaping...& a dot of foam!

Thank you for coming over to my blog - it's always nice to have visitors!!
Not sure when the announcement will be, but I'll sing a little more Doris Day "Que Sera" in the meantime...

White with one - Raspberry Wine

Isn't it another interesting colour over at the White with One challenge site!

raspberry wine

At first I didn't think I had anything in my stash that was exactly THIS colour...but I did find a Memories Mist and went with it!!
This is my entry in the May challenge...

I found an embossed sheet of white cardstock (well its probably more paper than card, quite thin) - tore a wide strip of Prima 'Discover' from the Delight collection - used the ledger half and then fussy cut the bike, sewing machine and corner bow...and a little banner! I wet the whole sheet with water and flicked a little Memories Mist 'red' and watched it bleed out...so cool! While it was drying, I gathered a bunch of chipboard pieces ( mostly randoms but the 'beautiful' is a Scrap FX Wordlet!) I proceeded to splatter the chipboard with assorted Stampin' Up! re-inkers, and Dylusion 'White Linen' when it went a little TOO dark...there is a couple of layers! I used the Prima Tag 'rubbish' and just turned it over to use as a base piece. Adhered the title and chipboard pieces before twirling the ribbon (how good is that colour match?) added some pearl bead centres (for a little glam) then covered the photo and splattered some darker drips - done! There is some Stampendous Fragments 'Burgundy' in there, but I bet you can't see them?

Katrina, Kerry and Julie are some of my favourite friends...we became friends through our husbands working together about 15 years ago - and still catch up when we can...even though life has taken each of us on different paths!

Scrapping Outback challenge - May 2015

Have you seen the inspiration picture this month over at Scrapping Outback?

You must use ALL the colours in the picture and at least one piece of chipboard!
So....this is what I created -

Starting with the specialty paper from Kasiercraft's Shine Bright (PS358 Brightside) I covered the centre with modelling paste, leaving a border - i made a little texture with the palette knife...dry! This was then randomly spritzed with Prima Colour Bloom in 'Summer Sky' and 'Cobalt' a little Tim Holtz distress ' Mermaid Lagoon' and Tattered Angels Glimmermist 'Bash', 'Jack Frost' and Turquoise Blue'....dry! I used the Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher to add the red paper string as a border. The chipboard Ampersand (&) was randomly cover with Gelatos in 'Spearmint', 'Lime' and 'Green Tea' - then spritzed with water and spread over the edges with my finger! The Scrapmatts 'LIVE' was sprayed with Kaisercraft 'Charcoal', and the 'to and each' scrabble chipboard was sprayed lightly with 'Lime'. All the other 'bits' came from a Finnabair tin of metals!

Photo is our nephew Jake, a few years ago now - but it will go in his album!!
