Fabulous Friday with #ME... Alison Bevis

It's Friday... hooray!! Hope you have some crafting planned for the weekend - you really need to call into your Local Scrapbooking Store or Kaisercraft outlet and pick up some of the New Release collections... they are so beautiful and yet still versatile, as I'm going to show you!!

I LOVE the colours and floral patterns immediately but while I was shuffling the papers found there is so much more to love!! The collection is filled with fresh and funky patterns but still has a lovely lace sheet, some pretty flowers and the mix of Black & White are perfect for 'just about anything'!!

Teen Boy Card

Teen males are notoriously difficult to create cards for - yes, you can always have Cogs, Stars, Arrows or a bit of Grunge - when I saw the grafitti-style Patterned Paper I figured it was masculine enough and not too girly... and with a bit of foam under some Collectables, stapled together for effect, layered together with the Arrow strip from the Sticker Sheet and then a couple of flicks of the New Apple Mist - done!! You could easily add a cluster of flowers to change it for a teen girl, and that's why it is so versatile!!

'Believe' Christmas Card

I heard you!! ...but it is NEVER too early to start creating your Christmas Cards - never!! While you're creating a layout, OTP or some other cards there is always extra papers you can put together and before you know it... a bunch of Christmas Cards ready to send in December - too easy!!

It was really those hand drawn Stars that had me thinking 'Christmas', and then in amongst the inspirational words of the Collectables packet I found 'Believe', and then there was that beautiful Green lace, and before I knew it a Christmas Card was on my desk!!

Mini Me frame

I created this frame as a gift (I purchased a little stand so it can stand on a window sill, as a reminder they have come so far) I started by randomly painting Gesso and Crackle over the top layer of the frame and while it was still wet, randomly sprayed Apple, Lime Green and Yellow so as it dried naturally the spray has dried into some lovely patterns. Ususally when I create a frame I individually cover each 'window' with a different paper from the range so it matches but this paper is so visually random I only needed a corner of the sheet. I've used the same 3 sprays to add a little colour to each window and sprinkled other colours too. Layer some specific Collectables and finish with a 'Wicked' flower (Wet the paper bloom with water then touch the end of the petal with the straw from the mist bottle and allow the colour to 'wick', it's a pretty effect which you can use on many flowers) - you could add a little Glitter to the edges of the petals, if you like a bit of sparkle!

Gumnut Baby Layout

I found these cute photos of our daughter dressed up as a Gumnut Baby - yes, I made the Gumnut hat from covering a balloon with glued papers and threaded hundreds of dried Gum leaves to make a skirt, but, that's another story! When the Decorative Frsames were first released, I thought they would be great on a layout (the ones smaller than 12x12" of course!) So I roughly painted Gesso over the frame and while it was still wet (I do lack 'drying' patience!) sprayed a little Apple and then sprinkled Yellow and Lime Green, so it was not too visible but just enough colour - and then using my finger, but you could use a paintbrush if you prefer, smeared the colours to cover the frame... and then let it dry naturally. I adhered to the Patterned Paper, then continued to add the mounted photos and finished embellishing with Paper Blooms, Collectables and a Chipboard title (just inked in black) - an easy layout, with just a few bits and pieces!

Kaisercraft - Tutorial Tuesday

Terrific Tuesday with Alison Bevis

Hello!!

I’m doing a little tutorial for you today and when I started thinking of what to show you, I thought it might be interesting to create a layout with a minimum of ‘stuff’…

So, I’ve used just THREE sheets of patterned paper… and a wood flourish Title – That’s it!!

Oh and a trimmer, scissors, tape, foam and glue?

I looked at the beautiful images on this sheet

P2011 Recall

and knew there was enough to create some layers and to finish embellishing too!

A little bit of FUSSY CUTTING… it is one of my favourite things to do!

Easy!!

Then I needed a sheet that already had a bit of background interest, P2012 Timeless – as I set myself a challenge to just create with paper – if you choose to, this is a perfect chance to add some mixed media background techniques and some stamping too!!

I trimmed this sheet at 29cm x 29cm and distressed the edges roughly, and continued to scrunch – then layered it over another sheet, with a 90′ turn – one with a little bit of interest along the sides – P2008 Recollection

Now is the chance to utilise all the strips from the bottom of each sheet and I added some of the leftover squares and rectangles from the fussy cut sheet –

I checked there was room for my photo and continued to layer mostly horizontal but also some strips vertically –

and then I added the photo

…now it’s time to add all the fussy cut pieces to add some interest!!

Yes, I needed a title… I love the ‘Cherish and Love’ Wooden Flourishes – they just add something special to a project, don’t you think?

White with One - Grape

Last day of the month, so just squeezing this one in...

FAMILY..

I started with a couple of sheets of cardstock - tore the purple and adhered the paper doiley on the right - The fabulous Janet Bott of The Resin Rainbow had this bag full of GRAPE resin pieces included this sheet of lattice with the inner shape too, so I used this as a layer and added some at the side of the photo and another cluster to the top left to balance the page - there is also a bunch of buttons, leaves, flowers and even a cute paperclip to choose from ... how good is that!!

Finished embellishing with a bunch of Manor House Creations flowers, some beaded twigs and some lace from Bella Paperie - the title is a Family Charming word from Tracy's My2Angels website - so easy to order!!

This is the gorgeous Natalie.... who will become a big sister in the New Year!!

Kaisercraft - MY DAY - Friday's are Fantastic..

I wont mention the date if you don't....

But I will mention how Fantastic these TWO collections released this month are!!

With the Red, White and Navy of

All of the Nautical imagery of ships, fancy knots and Anchors... it was perfect to create a layout for this photo from a few years ago - from fussy cutting the ship, to the rope paper which matched the seats to 'recycling' the red heart... makes me smile!

Did you see that big red heart - keep scrolling and you will see where I've recycled it from..

I always like a little challenge, so when I saw all the RED nautical images in the collectables I figured I could layer them into a triangular shape to represent a Christmas Tree - I have someone in mind for this card!

The Red Heart was cut from the paper after adhering to the front of the heart... bit of a bonus, I thought! So, I chose this photo from a Family Wedding to incorporate into the heart... hope the happy couple will like this one?

By covering each plank in a different pattern, and choosing all the 'blues' it has made this Wall Art neutral but girly... a great gift!! I even used the Embossing folder and stamped with it into the modelling paste (be sure to wash any paste out from the grooves before it dries!!)

I really liked the navy blue accents of this collection, and although there is quite a few feminine papers, I thought by choosing the darker prints I would have a good base of a card for a man. I think the touch of torn cork sheet adds to the masculinity.

Green is one of my most favourite colours, so it was easy to pick them all out and match them with the whites for this photo of my Grandparents.

Kaisercraft - Provincial Living Layout - Wednesday 4th November

Today on the Kaisercraft blog we have shared layouts created with the Provincial Stamp set and the Postmarks Embossing Folder

Other - Gesso and Ink

I've used the Embossing Folder as a stamp in a couple of ink colours and also on white cardstock to create a few tags pieces with swiped ink across the embossing.

Photo was taken on the 1st of February 1992... and yes! That is me and my four beautiful Bridesmaids!!
